Radonova Joins the Fight at End Lung Cancer Now Gathering

Radonova was excited to participate in the 5th Annual End Lung Cancer Now Gathering, an impactful initiative by the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center dedicated to eliminating the suffering and death caused by lung cancer in Indiana.

A Focus on Prevention and Early Detection

Close to 200 public health experts, physicians, healthcare professionals, and lung cancer advocates convened at the NCAA Hall of Champions in Indianapolis for a day of critical discussion. Speakers highlighted the latest advancements in lung cancer risk factors, prevention, and early detection.

A key focus of this year's gathering was prevention, which included an in-depth discussion on radon by Dr. Khadijah Mitchell of Fox Chase Cancer Center – Temple Health. Dr. Mitchell's research explores how radon interacts with genetics, place, and policy to shape lung cancer risk which are topics of vital importance for public health.

Raising Awareness of Radon Risk in Indiana

Radonova hosted a table to provide attendees with crucial information about the dangers of radon, the second leading cause of lung cancer globally. The data specific to Indiana underscored the urgency of the problem.

“Close to 40% of the homes in Indiana have radon levels above the action level,” says Zan Jones, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Radonova. “Plus, more than 950 people in Indiana will suffer from radon-induced lung cancer this year.”

To empower attendees to take action against this silent killer, every conference attendee was able to take home a Radonova radon test kit to test their own homes.

Bringing Lung Cancer Screening to the Community

The event concluded with a tour of one of the country’s first mobile lung cancer screening units. This innovative unit brings critical health prevention and screening services directly to Indiana communities, demonstrating a commitment to accessibility in the fight against lung cancer.
