Radonova at InterNACHI 2025: Connecting with Home Inspection Leaders
Radonova attended the InterNACHI Pro Inspectors 2025 Convention in Orlando, Florida last week. With over 1,000 attendees, the event traffic was huge! But during the breaks, we got to know our booth neighbors from Inspector Toolbelt.
At first, we noticed home inspectors asking to take pictures with Ian Robertson and David Nyman at the Inspector Toolbelt booth. So, we joined in! Turns out, they are industry celebrities. Inspector Toolbelt is not only a leading home inspection software, but they also produce and host a popular weekly podcast called Inspector Toolbelt Talk.
We talked with Ian about the podcast, what led to its creation, the home inspection industry, and radon testing (of course!).They started their podcast five seasons ago as a marketing arm for their software. Ian is a 20+ year home inspector industry veteran who thought it would be interesting to talk about “industry secrets of success” that many industry experts have held on to. Ian was skeptical about staring the podcast at first, but after the first few episodes they started receiving notes of thanks, questions, and episode topic requests.
Weekly home inspector podcast
“Producing a weekly podcast is a LOT of work,” says Ian. He comes up with the content, guests, and records the episodes. His team edits the audio, transcriptions, etc. Then, “there is other content to build around it, graphics/artwork, and so much more that many don't think about. All and all, one episode can take 20+ hours of work,” continues Ian.
“The most popular episodes tend to address sales and how to run a business as a solo entrepreneur,” says Ian. “And our episodes with InterNACHI founder Nick Gromicko are stand outs as well.”
Although the podcast is a marketing tool, Ian says they focus on making content that will be interesting to home inspectors, regardless of whether it has to do with their software solution. “Our goal is to be a resource for home inspectors. We feel this helps us develop relationships and have conversations that can possibly lead to a sale, but our focus is on helping inspectors run their businesses. It’s like having a personal home inspector mentor.”
Radon testing for home inspectors
Radon testing is part of a comprehensive home inspection, however, “some home inspectors prefer not to offer it,” says Ian. “I think we don’t like the whole process of radon testing. A radon test requires that a radon monitor or radon detector be left at the home and then retrieved after a few days – which causes inspectors to make a second trip to the home. Also, a radon test requires certification that some inspectors elect not to get.”
However, some home inspectors find radon testing provides an additional revenue source. The radon test is typically an add-on to a standard home inspection package. Plus, offering a radon test can be an entry point for the home inspector. If they are one of the few inspectors in their area that offers radon testing, it can help the inspector secure business just by virtue being able to provide the radon test.
For home inspectors, being able to produce and send a certified radon report easily to their client is a top priority. Continuous radon monitors that make the reporting process simple tend to be their top choices.
Home inspector software
Inspector Toolbelt is home inspection software that is built to be used the way home inspectors inspect – and to inspect a home as a whole. It provides admin and back-office features to allow home inspectors to run their entire business along with inspection software, AI integration, marketing integration, and more to help inspectors focus on what we do best – inspecting.
SPIRIT Continuous Radon Monitor
Radonova featured the SPIRIT continuous radon monitor (CRM) at the InterNACHI Pro Inspectors Convention on February 16-18, 2025. The SPIRIT measures hourly radon in real time, stores the data in the cloud, and transfers that data wirelessly. Users have access to the radon reports through Radonova's online portal where the data can be easily downloaded prior to retrieving the device from a client’s home. The SPIRIT also includes sensors for air pressure, temperature, humidity and movement/tampering and a 60-day rechargeable battery.
